Telangana Indiramma Housing Scheme (2024–2025)

Launch & Budget

  • Launched on March 11, 2024, by CM A. Revanth Reddy.
  • Backed by a massive ₹22,000 crore budget, aiming to deliver 5 lakh houses in Phase 1.

 Eligibility

  • Permanent Telangana resident
  • Economically Weak/BPL/EWS, no existing permanent house
  • Not previously benefited from any similar housing scheme
  • Preference for SC/ST widows, disabled, farmers, and female-led households

 Benefits & Structure

  • ₹5 lakh financial aid if applicant has land; ₹6 lakh for SC/STs
  • Landless beneficiaries may receive land plus ₹5 lakh
  • Houses must be ≥400 sq ft, RCC roof, include kitchen and toilet
  • Funds disbursed in stages tied to construction milestones (basement, walls, slab, finishing)

 Extent & Progress

  • First phase: ₹22,000 crore to build 4.5 lakh homes (~3,500 units per constituency)
  • Over 4.5 lakh houses sanctioned so far; next phase aims to cover 20 lakh families by 2028
  • As of June 19, 2025, 205 units sanctioned for Vasalamarri village

Special Initiatives

  • Unfinished 2 BHK units from the previous regime to be completed and reallocated to needy families (~1 lakh units).

 How to Apply & Check Status (Telangana)

  1. Online portal: Access via the official Indiramma Housing Scheme website
  2. Fill out the application with your Aadhaar, income, caste, residence proof, ration card, etc.
  3. Use an online tracker with Aadhaar/phone/ration card to view status
  4. File grievances via the same platform if issues arise

 Impact & Public Reception

  • The project aims to alleviate homelessness and enhance living standards across rural and urban Telangana.
  • Cong is actively positioning it as a key welfare achievement ahead of local elections
  • Beneficiaries report real progress—construction underway in pilot villages like Jangaon

 Andhra Pradesh INDIRAMMA Scheme (since 2006)

  • Launched in 2006 under CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, aiming for a hut-free rural AP
  • Provided Rs 45k–80k subsidy + loan for general and up to Rs 5 lakh for SC/ST families
  • Covered ~71 lakh families, with ~26 lakh houses completed in initial phases.
